NO CHANGE IN 50 YEARS: Salt intake remains high in U.S.

Obesity/diabetes patients also tend to have high blood pressure. I know the nation has put a lot of effort into warning about eating too much salt. This was probably more noticeable in the African American community.

USDA FUNDED STUDY: Behavioral psychology of school lunch aversion

Children's nutrution programs are a bi-partisan issue in US politics. Urban centers have kid to feed and the Heartland has crops to sell. No matter what the nutritional deficits, kids in America need not starve at breakfast or lunch if they are in a school district and quality for free/reduced meals. It is a blessing, but the kids don't see it that way. They hate the food and they hate the stigma.
