Leading landscape architect discusses CDC's healthy community design efforts

Much of the discussion taking place in landscape architecture these days revolves around climate change design issues. There is very little direct discussion of how the profession can have an impact on diseases caused by sedentary living. Landscape architects feature Safe Routes to School Program on website

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) highlighted Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) on their website this month. ASLA is a member of the SRTS Coaltion and is on record supporting a bill sponsored by Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) to expand SRTS to high schools and more rural communities.
