The Lancet: Active Transportation Could Cut Ischemic Heart Disease Prevalance by 25%

Posted on December 9, 2009 at 2:00pm 0 Comments

Great new blog post from one of my favorite blogs "Obesity Panacea." I like that researchers are moving towards the terminology "active transportation" instead of "alternative" or "non-motorized" transportation!

In his analysis of the article, he writes,

"In comparison to continuing on with "business as usual", substantially increasing active transportation by 2030 (either alone or in concert with reductions in vehicle carbon-emissions) is estimated to result in dramatic… Continue

AUGUST 10 WEBINAR: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVING ACCESS TO

HEALTHY FOODS

Good nutrition is essential to good health.
Yet, obstacles to

eating healthy – unhealthy food environments, lack of resources

to purchase nutritious food regularly and lack of healthy food

options in the community – represent major challenges for some to

choose and maintain healthy eating habits.

On August 10, join the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission… Continue

Thanks, Carol... as far as I can tell, that page only has one of the presentations from the webinar. I'd like to share the others with teammates here as a good overview, particularly the summary of the bill with info about the wellness grants program. I can also search around online, but if it was easy, that would help me time-wise. Thanks much.

Thanks, Carol.

Hi Carol,
it is. I'm well. How are you?
I actually thought of you yesterday because I was in a workshop with Ken Hardy. Have you ever heard him speak? He was pretty great, and would have been very relevant to our little fish bowl. Valerie would have enjoyed him.

Hello Carol. Could you please send me what you still have as the issue I raised and I can help add it as a comment or posting. What I was referring to was the PH-HVA (public health-hazard vulnerability assessment), rather than an HVAC (which I only know to mean "heating, ventilating and cooling" system. -- Michael
