Did you see the Packaged Food vs. Fresh Food graphic in yesterday's New York Times? Good visual on how much processed food we eat. Read my blog post http://dialogue4health.ning.com/profiles/blogs/factory-food-by-hannah Or go directly to the article http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/04/business/04metrics.html

I am glad the weather did not stop you from traveling to Watsonville. It is very exciting for me to see the great work being done to improve community health by the people of Watsonville. Poppendieck's visit speaks to savvy advocacy & capacity-building in the works. It would great, if once you read the book, you could share insights/your take on Free for All: Fixing School Food in America.

For those who read this post, here is a link to the book's Amazon page.

Recommending Janet Poppendieck's book "Free for All: Fixing School Food in America". She's speaking to our group in Watsonville tomorrow (e-mail me if you're interested in attending) and we'll also be discussing implementation of a soda tax to fund needed changes. Paula's right - gotta have the money to make meaningful changes.
