While HIA's are extremely valuable tools, we are beginning to apply many of the HIA tools, including GIS mapping and health literature, to develop a chapter in our County's comprehensive plan that shows the health and economic benefits of smart growth and other planning practices.  Would love to know if there is a speaker people know about who can help inspire politicians and citizens about these ideas.

Hi Jonnie:
There is an excellent resource for you. It is the Public Health Law Program.
They can help you locate other counties that are using HIA's and have a county elected official or staffer who can share their perspective.
I will send you the info via a message to your D4H mailbox.
Hi Jonnie:
I hear there is a doctor in San Francisco who works for the health department who does health impact assessments. I heard him speak at a conference. Also, the there is a website that is all about health impact assessments funded by the Robert Wood Johnson people. You might get some help/ideas there.

Here it is:

The doctor from San Francisco is Rajiv Bhactia. Spelling might be totally wrong.
