Event Description

The Latino Coalition for a Healthy California (LCHC) has completed its Fall round of Pláticas, or conversations, in seven California regions with large Latino populations. This round of Pláticas focused on two pressing issues, including:

  • Sugar sweetened beverages, obesity and diabetes and the Latino community; and
  • Covered California/Affordable Care Act and Latinos.

The Pláticas brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including public health workers, educators, and community organizers, whose collaborative conversation provides valuable information regarding health care access and curbing chronic disease in Latino communities.

During the Web Forum, our presenters will provide a brief overview of the two central issues, and will share themes and lessons learned from the participants at each of the seven meetings.

LCHC is working hard to align our policy work with the realities of what is affecting Latino communities across California. Our Regional Network meetings are an opportunity to share news from Sacramento and Washington, D.C. with our partners from across the state, to hear first-hand what is working locally, and to learn how state and national policies can improve Latino health. Please join us for this important Web Forum.
