Lisa Hershey, associate director, California Convergence (Partnership for the Public’s Health, Public Health Institute) will be a speaker at the December 14 webinar, Moving the Needle on Obesity: Cutting Edge Health Policy to Promote Physical Activity and Nutrition. She will discuss the role of the California Convergence project addressing the priorities of community leaders at the cutting edge of environmental approaches to improving food and physical activity environments; and support for California’s ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act) grant applications.

The featured webinar speaker, Dr. Joe Thompson, director, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity, will discuss how state health policy centers and public health institutes can play a role in obesity prevention.

Klaus Madsen, policy analyst, Texas Health Institute (THI), will share the THI experience creating and facilitating the Southern Obesity Summit and their work to create a southern strategy to address obesity.
